This weekend, the largest citywide home tour in North Texas will kick off its 15th annual iteration.

The AIA Dallas Tour of Homes is always a hotly anticipated event, both for design-savvy Dallasites and members of the architecture community. The tour lineup is curated by local architects and features some of the most innovative residential designs in our region.

The 2021 Tour of Homes will include both in-person and virtual tours. This year’s lineup includes more homes than ever and has also expanded geographically–several featured residences are in Denton and Tyler.

The tour will take place on Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. A separately ticketed Premiere Party is slated for Thursday evening.

Before the event kicks off, AIA Dallas Tour of Homes is giving D Home readers an exclusive first look.

Acclaimed architect Paul Jankowski designed his own home in the Knox-Henderson neighborhood and is opening its doors to the public as part of the tour.

Jankowski’s Manett Townhomes have a contemporary feel that marries the aesthetics of the commercial district to the south and the residential neighborhood to the north. The townhomes’ linear layouts offer premium views and abundant natural light; they’re also outfitted with strategic lighting to showcase collections of artwork. Warm materials like light wood floors complement the minimalist design and keep starkness at bay.

In this exclusive video, Jankowski reflects on the home’s intentionally pared-down style and what it’s like to live in a residence he designed himself.
