Hot Property: A Modern Waterfront Build on Cedar Creek Lake

Readers, today we’re heading to the shores of Cedar Creek Lake, about 50 miles southeast of downtown Dallas. Sure, summer is over and October isn’t a typical time to admire a waterfront home. In 2020, however, few things are more appealing than a weekend escape within driving distance of Dallas, and this 2019 build fits the bill.

2208 Point of View is a sprawling half-acre property. The lawn is dappled in sunlight, filtered through towering trees. The home itself has unexpected texture thanks to board-and-batten siding. The slate gray paint and wood accents add a twist to the otherwise classic façade.

Inside, the aesthetic is understated, bright, and airy–no kitschy fish-patterned wallpaper or anchor décor here. Instead, you’ll find bright white shiplap walls, polished concrete floors (ideal for sweeping sand away), a custom staircase, and midcentury-inspired pendant lights. The lakefront views are on full display through the floor-to-ceiling windows.

In the kitchen, each cabinet is painted a moody blue-green that matches the lake’s surface. White subway tile, open shelves, and a cozy booth setup round out the room.

The master bedroom has soaring ceilings and a patio overlooking the lapping water below. In addition to two pretty guest rooms, there’s an eight-person bunk room for sleepovers or family reunions. The bathrooms are adorned with eye-catching extras, like indigo tiles and cactus-print walls.

In the backyard, a sloping green lawn leads down to the shores of the lake, where a two-level dock with a boat lift awaits. Store kayaks and water toys on the upper level, or take a seat on its patio chairs to watch the sunset. As of September 30, the lake temperature was still a comfortable 77 degrees, but when it gets too cold to swim, a fire pit will keep you warm as you enjoy the lake from afar.
