Dr. Hugh “Bo” Frederick and Dr. David Muzykewicz are board-certified orthopedic surgeons specializing in surgery of the hand, wrist, and forearm. Dr. Frederick, who has an added qualification in hand surgery, has been treating patients, including local and national professional athletes, for a variety of conditions of the hand and wrist at his personalized practice since 1991.
Fellowship-trained in hand surgery, Dr. Frederick and Dr. Muzykewicz take a personal approach to patient care. Every patient is seen and treated by their surgeon from the initial evaluation throughout the course of their treatment—there are no physician assistants. A friendly staff member personally answers every phone call, and patients enjoy a warm, welcoming environment when they visit this personalized practice. From the treatment of arthritis to caring for hand fractures and trauma, the doctors take a conservative, nonsurgical approach to patient care whenever possible. If surgery is required, both doctors are trained in the latest surgical procedures. “Not every ailment requires surgery,” Dr. Frederick says. “All treatment options are discussed with patients, and we welcome their input.”
The practice has two on-site hand therapists, so that following surgery, patients can receive all follow-up care and therapy in one location. “We have an excellent team approach to patient care, which contributes to excellent outcomes in patients of all ages,” Dr. Frederick says.
Dr. Frederick received his M.D. from the University of Texas Medical Branch and completed his orthopedic surgery residency at Tulane University Medical Center. He completed his hand fellowship at Good Samaritan Hospital. Dr. Muzykewicz received his M.D. from Tufts University School of Medicine and completed his orthopedic surgery residency at University of California San Diego. He completed his hand fellowship at Brown University.
