Coolhaus

This gourmet ice cream sandwich truck made its grand debut in 2009 at the Coachella Valley Music Festival in Indio, California. Co-founders Natasha Case and Freya Estreller sandwiched homemade ice cream between fresh cookies, and Coolhaus was born. There are 11 trucks wheeling around the country, one of which is stationed here in Dallas. Cookies come in a variety of enticing flavors, such as chocolate chunk pretzel and maple flapjack, and the ice cream is just as playful with options like Sriracha and fried chicken and waffles.

Big D Kona Ice

Nothing epitomizes summer quite like a shimmering mound of sweet, sticky, tie-dyed ice. Big D Kona rolls along the streets of Dallas from March through November, scooping out flavorful shaved ice from the side of their brightly painted van. The truck offers traditional flavors such as piña colada, grape, and watermelon, and playful varieties such as wedding cake, cotton candy, and bubble gum.

What’s da Scoop

If you spot this bright blue truck and its gigantic pink melting ice cream decor headed your way, know that you’re in for a treat. The ice cream is shipped from The Chocolate Shoppe in Madison, Wisconsin, and comes in sweet and creamy flavors such as cherry amaretto fudge, mint chip, and scotch ale caramel crunch. Don’t feel like a cone? The truck offers floats made with Dr. Brown’s Black Cherry, Dr Pepper, and Coke.

Sure, shaved ice can be a tasty treat, but sometimes nothing beats the summertime blues better than a healthy, vitamin-packed snack. The Maui Wowi truck offers a variety of natural fruit smoothies and blended coffee beverages that are sure to simultaneously cool you down and pep you up. Smoothies are packed full of fresh fruit and come in blends like kiwi lemon-lime and mango orange. Need an extra jolt of energy? Opt for the mocha banana smoothie with Hawaiian coffee.
