In the Mood: The New Love Potion

In the Mood
|

Romantic music, sexy lingerie, and decadent chocolate treats will likely already have you and your valentine in the mood for love, but just in case you’re looking for that little something extra to spice up the night, we found your funky cold medina. Agavero ($35, 750 ml) is 100 percent blue agave tequila, a blend of anejo (aged up to 18 months) and reposado tequilas (aged about one year). It’s infused with Damiana essence—a high-altitude native Mexican flower thought to be an aphrodisiac. This love potion, created by a Jalisco distiller, dates back to 1857 and has been passed down from generation to generation as a sure-fire way to stir up passion. Add a dash to your favorite dinner recipes (go to dmagazine.com for a great brown butter seared scallops with Agavero mango chutney recipe), or get creative with a Passion Potion cocktail topped with a maraschino cherry (also online). Agavero is smooth, slightly sweet, and can be served neat as an after-dinner drink. Don’t worry about overdosing on the Damiana essence. It’s the tequila that’ll get you. (Available at Centennial Fine Wine and Spirits, No. l Highland Park Village, 214-528-2041.)
