Noted American architect Frank Lloyd Wright once said, “Noble life demands a noble architecture for noble uses of noble men. Lack of culture means what it has always meant: ignoble civilization and therefore imminent downfall.” The Dallas Architecture Forum is doing its part to combat imminent downfall with the opening of its 13th lecture series this month. Lauded architects Marion Weiss and Michael Manfredi, partners of the New York firm Weiss/Manfredi and the minds behind Seattle’s award-winning Olympic Sculpture Park, kick off the season, which runs through May. Despite an impressive list of bona fides, it’s the duo’s first time to appear in front of the Dallas Architecture Forum.
Their speaking engagement is the first of eight lectures, all led by authorities in disciplines related to the “built environment,” including design, engineering, urban planning, and, of course, architecture.
DAF’s executive director, Nate Eudaly, says the series was “established to raise the public’s awareness of well-built architecture.” Members of his organization spent months evaluating leading architects from all over the world to determine programming for the lectures and accompanying symposia and panel discussions. Architecture buffs can look forward to talks by Mathias Klotz, Juan Miro, Sheila Kennedy, Kevin Daly, Frano Violich, Christopher Genik, and more.
