Once just a fast-food staple, sliders are getting gourmet treatment at several local eateries. We selected four of our favorite two-bite burgers for life-size photos that show off their big-time taste.

How many to an order:Price: $10  Meat: Brisket smoked for 12 to 15 hours and simmered in barbecue sauce. Roll: King’s Hawaiian. Embellishments: Horseradish dill pickle, house-made barbecue sauce, house-made coleslaw.  Hook: Brisket melts in your mouth.

How many to an order:Price: $12.75  Meat: Kobe beef.  Roll: Empire Baking Co.  Embellishments: Bread-and-butter pickle, slice of tomato, “secret” sauce.  Hook: You can order them medium rare for a bright pink center.
