SWEET TREAT: Festive fruit flavors such as grape, strawberry, and blueberry are a new twist on traditional popcorn favorites.

Kim and Tim Loyd are the mom and pop behind the Mom and Popcorn Company, a gourmet goodies shop in McKinney. I’m not just talking about made-from-scratch caramel popcorn balls. These folks make 46 flavors of popped goodness. Savory flavors include innovations like Salsa Verde, Hot Cheese, and Cajun. On the sweet side, colorful candied batches incorporate the tastes of grape, strawberry, and blueberry. The shelves of the store, located in historic downtown McKinney, are lined with nostalgic candy brands such as Milk Duds, Raisinets, and Junior Mints, along with glass bottles of Dr Pepper, Coca Cola, and Frostie Root Beer. If your sweet tooth isn’t satisfied, they also have homemade fudge. Call your friends, hit the video store, and plan a movie-watching party. Better rent more than one, because you’ll have a room full of guests with serious sugar rushes. 215 E. Louisiana St., McKinney. 972-542-7605. www.momandpopcorn.com.
