Trends for the Season

A report from Fashion Week on this season’s trends and the people who set them.

By Stephanie Quadri |
TOP TRENDS FOR SPRING 2008:
Whittled waists
Head gear
Pretty pastels
Minimalism
Sheer and shiny sheaths
Tribal prints
Ombré

Every season we head to New York to see the latest collections by designers such as Carolina Herrera, Diane von Furstenberg, Marc Jacobs, Michael Kors, Oscar de la Renta, and Ralph Lauren so we can bring you trends directly from the runway. This season we had our staff photographer, Elizabeth Lavin, in tow to take you behind the scenes, backstage, and front row at spring 2008 Fashion Week. We ran into some local fashionistas, shopped till we dropped, socialized with celebs, and visited Dallas native Lela Rose at her design studio.

One of our faves, Rodarte, continues to be creative with peekaboo sheers and pleated chiffons (shown here). A trip to Japan inspired the feminine yet edgy collection, in which studded sandals and fingerless gloves accessorized romantic gowns.
