Must-Have Eco-Friendly Fashions & Products

Earth-friendly clothing doesn’t have to be dowdy. Designers are finding the style in sustainable.
By Stephanie Quadri |

As the desire for a more eco-friendly lifestyle is becoming mainstream, many designers are offering fashions for the environmentally conscious. Top designers such as Stella McCartney, who has several organic cotton pieces in her collection, and Dallas-based designer Laura Chapuis of Habitude are making an effort to create stylish, earth-friendly wares using fabrics like hemp, bamboo, and organic cotton and wool. According to Chapuis, hemp is one of the hardiest and strongest fibers there is, and it doesn’t require the use of pesticides. The empire waist dress shown here is made of 60 percent hemp and 40 percent silk, with a 100-percent organic cotton trim. Going green can be glamorous.

You can find Chapuis’ collection at stores in Texas, California, Oregon, New York, and online at www.habitude.org.

Bekka is wearing a dress by Habitude ($198/www.habitude.org), Stella McCartney raffia wedges ($345/Forty Five Ten), and Melissa Joy Manning agate and 14-karat gold ring ($945/Forty Five Ten).
