Fall Fashion and Fashionable Femmes

Trust us: you’ll have bubble skirts and puffed sleeves in your closet this fall. PLUS: fabulous travel bags and personal shoppers who can change your closet (and your life).

Puff Piece

A prediction for fall: your wardrobe will include bubbled skirts or puffed sleeves—if you want to be considered a true fashionista, that is. Fabric and form are essential in the upcoming season. Designers such as Balenciaga, Viktor & Rolf, Alexander McQueen, and Oscar De La Renta all emphasized shape in their collections. Here, we show an easy-to-wear version of the bubble skirt by Sonia Rykiel. To balance—and flatter—the poof, pair with a slender top, tights, and short boots.

Ana is wearing Thomas Pink cotton “rahme” shirt ($195/Thomas Pink, Galleria Dallas); Cynthia Ann: Ray Griffith’s 18-karat gold earrings and ring ($990 & $1,390/ Charles Skibell); Sonia Rykiel skirt ($745/Nordstrom); DKNY opaque tights ($12.50/Nordstrom); and Sonia Rykiel suede ankle boots ($1,340/Gregory’s, Galleria Dallas).

Fashionable Femmes
Whether you need your closet reorganized or a wardrobe overhaul, call upon these three personal shoppers.

Molly Duvall
Personal shopper and fashion consultant

Molly was raised in Dallas and spent time in New York City interning with Nicole Miller and Lela Rose and working in creative services at Ralph Lauren. Her clients—from high school teens to philanthropic sophisticates—were thrilled when the petite, strawberry-blond personal shopper moved back two years ago. And with good reason: she’ll organize a closet, shop for a luncheon, or simply go to a store to watch a client try on clothes. But one thing she won’t do is force her personal style on anyone. She’ll purchase designer pieces from Neiman Marcus, trendy tees from Cotton Island, or affordable basics from The Gap, depending on the woman’s style and budget. “I really believe a wardrobe that is diverse is the best way to go,” she says. “It’s more affordable and more fun.” 214-507-1250.

Nancy Klompus
Style consultant specializing in wardrobe management

Nancy won’t let anything in your closet go to waste. “I really love to maximize what you have and go from there,” she says. With a few nips and tucks from her personal tailor, a repair on some old pumps, or a new undergarment to pair with a troublesome tank, you’ll be shopping in your own closet before heading to a pricey boutique. She then fills in the wardrobe gaps with classic pieces (a great jean and a simple black pump) or trendier, seasonal items. After years with Barneys, Saks Fifth Avenue, and Neiman Marcus, plus a year and a half personal shopping, Nancy has learned what ladies want. Once you feel your closet is complete, she’ll pair several outfits, take pictures, and organize the looks into a fancy book of outfit options geared toward your lifestyle and the season. 214-725-9527. www.nkbuyrequest.com.

Linda McDonald
Personal shopper

Linda sits at market every season, scouting out the perfect items to purchase for her clients (whom she describes as “friends”). Not only is she buying must-have pieces before they arrive in stores, but she’s also getting the skinny on upcoming trends, making it easy to guide her clients toward a specific look. Linda will also help build a wardrobe, organize a closet, or shop for any event—from Cattle Baron’s to a Stars game. But the 10-year personal shopping veteran stresses that she doesn’t just buy a bunch of clothing one time and hand it over. “I do this 12 months out of the year for a client,” she says.  She spent four years as a salesperson and buyer at The Jay Shop in Palestine, where she learned from renowned retailer Hazel Condos. Linda’s goal is to have each lady look into her closet and feel great about what she’s about to put on. 214-681-3604.
