To Morning News writer Linda Wertheimer, for her ’”scoop” revealing the names and backgrounds of the five candidates for Dallas Public Schools superintendent after the board agreed to keep them confidential. The details, leaked by a board member, prompted two of the most promising candidates to withdraw their names, leaving the district with slim pickings. We’re all in favor of enterprise reporting, but Wert-heimer’s coup cost the district dearly and gained little for the paper but bragging rights.
