To attorney Lawrence J. Friedman, who suggests that petty jealousy prompted federal Judge Jerry Buchmeyer to sane-lion Friedman for “maliciously, unreasonably, and vexatiously” protracting a public-housing case.

Representing a group of Carrollton property owners, Friedman sought to stall a Dallas Housing Authority project, planned for the intersection of Frankford Road and Marsh Lane, by claiming the DHA had violated the Texas Open Meetings Act.

Judge Buchmeyer characterized Friedman’s argument as “ridiculous” and ’a waste of time” in a court order directing the limelight-loving lawyer to reimburse DHA about $37,000. part of the amount the agency spent in parrying his legal assertions.

Friedman claims his clients are delighted with his work.

“If there was a mayoral race [in Garrollton],” he boasts, “I would win.”
