WHILE WE’RE AT IT The Award

By D Magazine |

THE SHERYL LEACH CREDIT-HOGGING Award (for giving birth to Barney the dinosaur) goes to her brother-in-law. Rick Duffield, who takes credit for conceiving Wishbone the dog. Just as Kathy Parker and Dennis DeShazer were ultimately squeezed out of the Barney birth rights, Duffield neglected to mention (in a Dallas Morning News profile) the role of writers Stephanie Simpson and Barbara Bartholomew in the development of “Wishbone,” the popular PBS children’s show. In subsequent letters to the editor, Bartholomew and a representative writing on behalf of Simpson barked about being left out in the cold. Woof.
