LIMOS DELUXE

|

PSSST. ARE YOU VERY RICH- and very private? If so, you may wane to book your next power cruise with Majestic Motor Cars, whose Rolls-Royce fleet has grown to include a $480,000 stretch limousine, two Silver Spur sedans (costing about $192,000 each), and a six-passenger limo currendy on order.

As owner John Manuel says, “It’s not about getting from Point A to Point B.” Certainly not at these prices ($150 to $249 per hour). The cars-run like a luxury hotel-are appointed with Frette towels, fresh flowers, Tiffany crystal, Dom Perignon, a VCR, and a color television. Passengers are referred to as “guests”; drivers (trained at Rolls-Royce Motor Cars in Crewe, England) are “coachmen.” And, since many of his clients are visiting foreign dignitaries, Manuel employs three bodyguards and an interpreter who speaks seven languages.

Majestic has transported Michael Feinstein, Ivana Trump, and a mysterious figure Manuel suspects was a member of Saudi Arabia’s royal family (“Don’t ask, don’t tell,” he says). But not all of Majesties clients are out-of-towners. A well-known local jeweler regularly books one of the Silver Spurs as his mobileoffice. A PLano woman who recendy reserved one of the cars for three hours asked that it simply be parked in front of her house. And don’t forget the lady and her three teacup poodles. Each week, Manuel collects the dogs, takes them to the groomer, then returns them home. Says Manuel: “They prefer the limousine.”
