LUXURY HOMES Homes Fore! Sale

|

IF YOUR IDEA OF HEAVEN IS A view of the 18th hole from your verandah, or if you’d like to drive your golf cart home after a quick evening round, then this month’s column is right up your, uh, fairway. We’ve searched the area to price golf course living- Las Colinas, Bent Tree and a few choice finks in between. The size of the house certainly figures into price point here, but the house’s placement along the golf course- and the course’s quality-are the major factors.

Among the most expensive and spectacular golf course views are those from homes on the Four Seasons Tournament Players’ Course (TPC) in Irving. The house at 4404 Windsor Ridge Dr., featuring views of the Jay Morrish-designed course from almost all of its 17 rooms, sold on May 6 for $825,000. It had been listed for $926,000. Built in 1993, the four-bedroom, four-and-a-half-bath house boasts a curved stairway said to “take your breath away upon entering,” according to one visitor. Hardwood floors and heavy moldings are other extras, as well as the ability to host your friends for the GTE Byron Nelson Classic each year, or watch top tour players hit winning drives while you ’re still in your robe and slippers.

Another recent high-dollar golf course sale is 5514 Harbor Town in Bent Tree. This five-bedroom, six-and-a-half-bath home built in 1984 sold for $840,000 on March 9. It had been listed for $895,000. In addition to views of the golf course and creek, major selling points include a 23-by-23-foot master bedroom suite.

After the Four Seasons TPC and Bent Tree, we step down a few hundred thousand dollars to 5723 Preston Fairways Dr., overlooking the exclusive Preston Trail Golf Club. Here men are men and women are nor allowed to play-even if they pay 5479,900 for a home, which was the sale and list price for this four-bedroom, four-and-a-half-bath house. Built in 1986, the house features elaborate use of marble and granite as well as gracious formais, a master suite with a fi replace and balcony, and a gourmet kitchen-where perhaps the golf club members expect the little woman to spend her time white hubby is practicing his putting.

In Farmers Branch at 3515 Brookline, a golf course view from this “executive mansion” goes for $375,000. Originally listed at $459,950, the house sold on Jan. 16 after the relocating seller reduced it for quick sale. This four-bedroom, three-and-a-half-bath house with billiards room and library overlooks the Brookhaven Country Club.

Three recent sales in Hack-berry Creek Estates at Hack-berry Creek Country Club offer golf course living for under $350,000: 7508 Sweetgum Dr. listed at $389,500 and sold for $342,500 on April 30; 2120 Mossy Oak Dr. listed at $341,900 and sold for S331,900 on May 1 ; and 7528 Sweetgum Dr. listed at $349,000 and sold for $303,000 on Jan. 22.
