…that Albert Lidji, whose Lou Lattimore clothing store on Lovers Lane was a victim of the Dallas downturn, now serves his old clientele from the couture department of the NorthPark Neiman’s.

…that a new conservative talk radio station is being planned for Dallas/Fort Worth to be called KPNT- “the Point.” While it’s still in the financing stages, the station’s backers are convinced that many national programs not carried in this market would quickly build a receptive audience.

…that Tammy Faye Baker of eyeliner fame has been spotted several times in Arlington, where she is rumored to be a new resident. We cannot confirm.

…that former city councilman Glenn Box, who will take on Pete Sessions in this spring’s GOP primary for the honor of opposing Democrat John Bryant in the 5th Congressional District, has surprised local party insiders with his fund-raising prowess. Before he even made his announcement, Box had lined up 100 heavy hitters for his finance committee, and by summer’s end had stashed $80,000 in the bank.

…that Joe Barton, whose 6th Congressional District is centered in Arlington, is quietly lining up support among key political play ers to run for the Senate if either Phil Gramm or Kay Bailey Hutchison ends up on the nation al ticket.

…that Carl Wescott the former Ford dealer and big Democratic supporter, netted $130 million in share value when his latest venture-a lending company for usec car buyers-went public two months ago. The shares of hit Jayawk Acceptance, which hit a peak of $15 in the initial public offering, are selling in the $14 range as we go to press. The IPO has stirred editorial comment in the financial press, and for good reason; The two-year-old company’s revenues are only$14 million.
