CELEBS NEW BEARD IN TOWN

|

Flowing beards and thun-derous rock and roll have long been trademarks of Billy Gibbons and that li’l ol’ band from Texas, ZZ Top. Now that guitarist Gibbons has taken a loft in Deep Ellum, Dallas has been added to Houston and Los Angeles as his principal hangouts. In the mid ’80s Gibbons saw Edie Brickell play at Club Dada and thought that there was something going on in Deep Ellum. Since moving to the heart of Elm Street about six months ago, the bearded one attended a New Year’s hash at the Green Room and sips frozen cappuccino at Deep Java. Recently he left two huge barrels of bubble gum at the cafe, for anyone to share.

“He’s very friendly, but with an eccentric sense of humor,” says owner Brad Evanoff. You might spot Gibbons in his dark shades and all-black attire, but not too early in the morning- he keeps a rocker’s late hours.
