Q: I’ve seen U.S. Rep. Dick Armey listed as R-Lewisville, R-Copper Canyon, R-Denton, Plano, Irving, etc.
Does he live in a mobile home?
-R.P., Dallas.
A: “Most of that is a function of the size of his district,” says an Armey staffer. Indeed, Armey’s 26th
District, which he has reigned over since 1984, is one of the most populous in the nation, sprawling across portions
of Collin, Dallas, Denton, and Tarrant counties. The size of Armey’s army has not gone unnoticed by House Republicans,
who recently elected him majority leader.
For the record, Armey’s staff doesn’t care how he’s listed in print. His home is in Flower Mound, and he moved his
office in 1993 from Lewisville to Irving. “Anywhere is fine,” the staffer concludes, “just so long as they spell his
name right.” -Joseph Guinto
