If you haven’t succumbed to the pull of the big shoe this summer, prepare to be put on a pedestal this fall: Platforms
are back with a vengeance. They are the answer to getting a leg up on the autumnal onslaught of long hemlines and
layers of menswear, and this time they look good. Those of us who were barely old enough to strap on the chunky
version that enabled one to gavotte If not groove during the ’70s will delight in the streamlined, redefined forms so
prolific on the best fall ’92 runways. Must-haves to shop for now In Dallas: The “hidden” platform from Donna Karan at
Neiman Marcus, a squared, medium-high heel in suede, with the lift tucked Into the shoe’s Instep; Donna Karan’s
evening platform at The Gazebo-a high, slender sandal with a wraparound ankle strap In silver and Mack silk; at
Stanley Korshak, Anne Klein’s tailored suede pump with subtle platform for those still In need of training heels. And,
