THUMBS UP to the Dallas Business Coalition for Education for pledging to raise more than $1 million toward funding the much-needed DISD reform package. The announcement couldn’t have come at a better time-just as teacher layoffs were dominating the news-and it reminds us again that education is too important to be left to the bureaucracy. This kind of public-private partnership has served the city well in the past; it’s a tradition that needs preserving.
