THUMBS DOWN to Mayor ANNETTE STRAUSS and five other council members who approved a 14-1 plan with four safe black districts, rather than five. Goodbye to more millions in legal fees. And spare us the hollow arguments by the likes of Mayor Pro Tern JOHN EVANS about “shredding” Pleasant Grove. When fewer than 20 percent vote in council elections, it’s ludicrous to pretend that only council representation binds neighborhoods together.
