On November 24, 1932, clothier Isadora Rude gave a Thanksgiving present to the needy of Dallas: 12,050 items of clothing, including 9,900 pairs of shoes, 80 dozen dresses, 50 dozen pairs of overalls, and 36 dozen neckties. Rude, who had once begged for food at a restaurant, was called “the most worthy man in Dallas.”
