Honeycutt says he has decided that to combat what he calls the “hateful rhetoric” at City Hall, he must fight fire with fire. Working with RICHARD FINLAN, another police supporter, and perennial mayoral candidate BILLY JACK LUDWIG, Honeycutt is digging for damaging dirt on Police Enemies Number One and Two; City Council members AL LIPSCOMB and DIANE RAGSDALE. Other public officials may follow if they’re deemed anti-cop. Says Honeycutt: “Any and everybody is a fair target.”

Right now, fair or not, Lips-comb is the main target. Honeycutt believes that the District 8 council member is serving on the council illegally because of an ancient drug conviction in California, a crime Lipscomb admits. (In Texas, felons, unless pardoned by the governor, are prohibited from holding office.) Honeycutt says he has plans to push the matter into a court inquiry. The CAPPS gun has also unearthed what he says is a questionable home improvement Community Development Block Grant issued to Lips-comb’s mother, LUCILLE JEFFREY. Honeycutt says that his group has been surveying the house, which according to the loan documents should have already undergone a $28,000 facelift. But on that score, Honeycutt hasn’t done all his homework. According to EDGAR JORDAN, director of the city’s housing and neighborhood services department, no work has been done because the money has not yet been issued. And when it is, Jordan says, it will go straight from the city to the contractor.

Honeycutt says he’ll reveal damning poop on RAGSDALE, too, and he vows that CAPPS will not back down in the face of political heat, no matter how hot it gets. Says he: “We intend to tell the truth. . .and let the chips fall.”
