North Texas educators, parents and students from the kindergarten-through-college level can sample a world of innovative programs in Learn Something New, a five-part preview of educational and instructional television programs that begins with a 90-minute special Sunday, February 11, at 7 p.m. on Channel 2.
Sunday’s Learn Something New will offer viewers a look at the many educational programs available from Channel 2 and Channel 13, programs ranging from Square One TV and Zardip’s Search for Healthy Wellness to Playing the College Admissions Game and GED on TV. KERA/KDTN president Dr. Richard J. Meyer will host this special, which also will provide an overview of some of the educational offerings of area commercial television stations.
The final four segments of Learn Something New, airing Monday and Tuesday, February 12 and 13, and Thursday and Friday, February 15 and 16, at 7:30 p.m., are 30- minute programs devoted to instructional television (ITV) programs slated to air on Channel 2 this spring. ITV programs -which are used in thousands of private and public school classrooms throughout North Texas-are the mainstay of Channel 2’s daytime schedule and include such widely diverse titles as Learn to Read, Survival Spanish, Electrochemistry and Landscape of Geometry. Bob Ray Sanders, host and editor of Channel 13’s award-winning News Addition, will host the ITV segments of Learn Something New.
