Thumbs up to Ole Anthony, president of the Trinity Foundation, for creating The Dallas Project to help the poverty stricken in this city. Anthony’s plan, which challenges every church, synagogue, mosque, and volunteer organization in Dallas to adopt at least one homeless family, echoes the founders of all major religions in calling for altruism on a personal level. For a host of reasons, the welfare system in this country has failed. The Dallas Project, combining liberal activism with the conservative emphasis on private effort, is an old idea that deserves new attention.
