Thumbs down to new Cowboys owner Jerry Jones and former Cowboys owner Bum Bright for their classless, shabby treatment of coach Tom Landry After twenty-nine years of service to this city and the NFL, Landry deserved a more graceful departure. Bright, a narrow moneygrubber to the end. stresses that it was only a business deal, but some things cannot be excused even in the name of the almighty dollar. And bringing new coach Jimmy Johnson to town-before Landry had even been given the news-was both callous and dumb. Landry’s exit was probably inevitable, but people with brains and compassion could have handled it another way. When Johnson’s three or four years are up, we hope the businessmen treat him a little better.
