There is a move afoot to get the State Highway and Public Transportation Commission to rename Highway 191, the new partial loop being planned north of LBJ Freeway, the Dwight D. Eisenhower Freeway. The new road has already been dubbed “The Ike Pike” by highway planners and watchers. . .



And speaking of women, the worst segue of the month goes to council member Al Gonzalez. After the council discussed the movie The Last Temptation of Christ, (hey honored about forty women in the chambers for Women’s Equality Week. Gon-zalez said, “In the spirit of what we were just discussing, I think it’s important to note that when Christ rose, it wasn’t Peter or Paul who went to the grave, it was three women, and I think that’s important…”



Attorney Sol Villasana, recently sacked by the firm of Geary, Stahl & Spencer because his outside political activities cut into his billable hours, has landed on his feet. The Democratic loyalist, who has worked in numerous state and local campaigns, is now working as an advance man for the Dukak-is-Bentsen ticket. “We’ve got to reach 100 million people in sixty days,” Villasana said in early September. “The battle is not for ground on a battlefield. It’s about inches in print and minutes on television. . .”



The dynamic political/singing duo, Al Lipscomb and Diane Ragsdale, have recorded a rap song that raps, in part, like this: “When you hear my voice ringing out in loud protest/Just get off my chest/Because/The point I’m trying to make is/I’ve got a big, big bite when it comes to right/And I’m not gonna try to fake it/When the issues are burning hot (hot)/The point I’m trying to make is/I’m gonna fight for the rights of my constituents/That’s the point I’m trying to make/All you critics just chill!/Chi-chi-chi-chi-chill out!…”
