Thumbs down to Bobby McMillan, president of the Dallas chapter of the National Association of Industrial and Office Parks, for sending hundreds of developers from across the country home with an impression of a racist Dallas. McMillan adjourned a meeting at the week-long NAIOP conference in Dallas late in April with a racist joke about Jesse Jackson that went over with a thud. In a time when it is so important for our city to send a positive impression to the rest of the country while we struggle with our race relations problems, McMillan’s backward message is the last thing Dallas needs.
