THE MANSION

The Mansion on Turtle Creek is one of the few old hidings Dallas really loves. But it’s lot the architecture, or the history, or the tamms interiors, or even chef Den fearing’s nationally acclaimed Southwestern cnisine (though an haute agile based on chilies and beans is attractive to any Texan) that draws Dallasites to the Mansion like flies to a honey jar. It’s the glamour. Dallas loves celebrity, and the Mansion is its link to the rich and famous. It’s not just that stars stay there. Ml it takes tor anybody to feel like Somebody it to dress up, drive a nice car, and dine at the Mansion, (Just “the Mansion”-there’s no need for the Ml name. It’s obviously not the Mansion on Bachman Creek.) Surely one reason so many Dallasites drive BMWs, Mercedes, and Jags is so they’ll feel good abort valet parking at the Man-sion. Ohviously, it’s not quite the same rush pull-ing up in a ten-year-old Toyota. Ascend the steps into the lobby of this elegant hotel and you can hear Robin Leach’s overdubbing and see the paparazzi’s bulbs popping. For the price of a meal (albeit one that wipes out your next, car payment), you can fee like you’ve made it-cock of the walk, top of the heap.
