The Student Competition for the design of one room in the Dallas Symphony Showhouse was established in 1987. This, our second competition, had 22 design boards fully completed and submitted to the Showhouse Design Council. The winners are Jane Akin and Tanya Wetherell, College of Fine Arts, Interior Design Department, North Texas State University. Their winning design is for the Leisure Room (an upstairs bedroom) in the Contemporary House. Our underwriter for the Student Competition room is John Edward Hughes, Inc., represented by John Stitle. The final judges for the competition were Christy Drew, Bob Thompson & Associates, Inc., and Connie Campbell, Wilson and Associates. The Showhouse Committee is most pleased to have student participation and to have the opportunity of encouraging excellence in interior Design.
Our thanks to all who worked with this program, making the Scudent Competition room a reality.
