Thumbs down to District Attorney John Vance and prosecutor Charlie Mitchell for spending eight months of taxpayer-supported time on a witch hunt for Parkland Hospital chief Ron Anderson. It seems that some of Anderson’s enemies managed to weasle into the DA’s office with some pretty sleazy accusations, which Vance and company took weeks to look into before eventually clearing Anderson. With county funds in limited supply and Vance claiming that his office can’t pursue certain kinds of cases (like family violence or consumer fraud) it seems odd that eight months of casework could be spent on the allegations against Anderson-especially when the core charge involved $1,300 in political contributions made by Anderson over a six-year period.
