The Nature of Things

|

If you’re looking to kick up some dirt on Easter weekend (and we don’t mean tack ling spring yardwork), pack up the dan and answer the call of the wild. Greenhills Nature Center, a mere twenty-five minutes from civilization, is hosting a twelfth annual Wildflower Festival. Take a guided trail walk of the 365-acre preserve and marvel at the fields of flax, bachelor buttons, Indian paintbrush, and evening primrose (There are more than twenty different wildflower species in bloom this month.) Sign up for a workshop on pioneer cooking with plants, take a class on mammals, birds, and insects, or study Indian culture. There’s also a native plant, tree, and shrub sale For directions and times, call the center at (214) 296-1955.
