But for those who would rather lease than own. ProCreations. which specializes in rentable professional maternity wear, may be the answer. To cut costs on a pricey maternity wardrobe (which, on the average, will only be used twice in a lifetime). ProCreations has been leasing its clothes to thousands of women in the United States and South America.
The company is launching a new business expansion with a head office in Portland, Oregon, and franchises throughout the country. Media attention has been quick and profitable. Founder Donna Smith reports, “After we appeared in Vogue, demand has exceeded supply. It’s time to move forward and get on with it.1’ Dallas will be one of the first cities to receive a store.
Business suits are made of a fine German wool and are manufactured by in-house designers. Each suit, fully lined in rayon, is available in conservative colors. Blouses and dresses are made mostly in silk and rayon in colors complementing the suits. For warmer climates, a tropical collection is available in bright colored linens and cottons, and an evening line is available for after-five occasions. “The clothes are an affordable alternative to designers such as Calvin Klein or Yves Saint Laurent because they emphasize quality, comfort, and fashion,” says Smith.
Currently, the company markets wardrobe packages through mail-order catalogues or by house calls in which a representative presents the catalogue, measures the client, then mails the wardrobe to the home. Pro-Creation’s wardrobe packages consist of three two-piece suits, three blouses, and two dresses, which, when make forty-two different outfits. The fall/winter wardrobe ($48 per week) can be exchanged with the spring/summer wardrobe (also $48 per week) at any time.
