WINDFALLS Filling A Void

|

Dentists who make house calls? Well, shut my mouth! East Dallas dentists lack Wilson and Mike Reed have put dentistry on wheels with Mobile Dental Care, a curb-side dentist’s office in a converted Winnebago. Outfitted with drills, suction hoses, X-ray machines, and a wheelchair lift, the van is equipped for anything short of major dental surgery. Mobile Dental Care has visited about 150 patients since it got rolling last fall, serving private homes, hospitals, nursing homes, and rehabilitation centers along with several attorneys, employees at an automotive distributorship, a jeweler, and a restaurateur. Though most of their patients are in Dallas. Wilson and Reed have taken their drilling rig as far as Ennis, Rockwall, and Fort Worth. For some customers, the tan is simply convenient. For others, like wheelchair-bound Motsey Miller in Hollywood Heights, it’s much more. “It was such a struggle when we’d try to go to the dentist before,” says Miller’s sister Ruth Brau. “We’d have to find someone to drive us and help with Motsey’s wheelchair. It would take a half a day.” For more information about Mobile Dental Care, call 8261700.
