WITH ALL THE retrospective hoopla in fashion this season, it’s destined that denim-in all its fashionable forms-is showing up on designers’ palettes. Tie-dyed, bell-bottomed, stone-washed, batiked-you name it, and you’ll be seeing, and maybe even wearing, it. And as in decades past, there’s only one basic rule to remember in all of jeanswear: a snug fit is the first and only rule.
Nothing really looks better than a well-fitting pair of jeans. Levi Strauss’ 501 original button-fly jeans are industry leaders in styling, comfort and catchy TV commercials.
But other worthy contenders (many of couture recognition) are stretching their seams to catch up: Calvin Klein Jeans, Perry Ellis America, Colours by Alexander Julian, Pierre Cardin, DEE CEE/ Washington Mfg. Co., Long Haul Jeans, The Lee Company, Seagoing Uniforms, Sedgefield Jeans and Wrangler for Men and Women.
