WHAT’S HAPPENING AROUND TOWN

Apparel Mart-based First Tuesday Productions is getting ready to roll with its second installment of Cameramoda, a video fashion magazine that debuted June 8 on Channel 8. Hosted by Susan Erwin, former Fashion Director of Saks Fifth Avenue in Dallas, Cameramoda is the brainchild of First Tuesday president Pierre Bagley. The initial video covered all fashion bases, with featurettes on the opening of the Cannes Film Festival and an interview with Barbie, among others. The next scheduled air date is in late September; the video will include a countdown of fall’s greatest hits and special features on BUI Blass and Grace Jones fashions.



Fashion designer Mary McFadden joins Halston in the designer department at JCPenney stores in September. McFadden already designs a line of shoes for the department store. The “Mary McFadden Signature Collection” will be exclusive to Penney’s and will feature 12 contemporary sportswear items, ranging in price from $38 for sweaters to $110 for a tailored jacket. Skirts and trousers will fall into the $50 to $65 retail range.



A retail shop, exclusively for the business-woman-on-the-rise, has put down roots in Sakowitz Village. Sherel Meyer who owns and operates L’Executive, wants to completely outfit the aspiring executive woman, from head to toe-she’ll even offer advice on how to maintain your business integrity at business events.



Designer Liz Claiborne wants to keep in touch with the people who keep her in business. She’s recently instituted a “Travelers” program, a full-time staff of retail fashion consultants who roam the country holding mini-fashion shows, how-to workshops and career workshops. Look for them at major department stores beginning in September



Hermes of Paris is scheduled to open a store in Dallas’ Highland park Village in November. Groundbreaking ceremonies for the store were held in August.
