The “Quest for Success” awards were given to Raymond Basye Jr. of Texas Novelty Co., Roosevelt Burrell of Roosevelt Burrell & Son Inc., Comer Cottrell of Proline Corp., John W. Dodd of Dodd-Frazier Inc., William Ford of Fond Universal Carpet, Joyce Foreman of Foreman Office Products, Pettis Norman of PNI Enterprises, Randall Primm of Video Etc. Inc.. Willie D. Sears of Tan Tex Tile Co., T. A. Sims of Sims Enterprises Inc., J. Alfred Washington of Focus Communications Group and Lionell Woods of Woody’s Shell station. The awards event was sponsored by the Dallas Black Chamber of Commerce, Miller Brewing Co. of Fort Worth and The Dallas Morning News. The 12 winners were selected from 66 nominees for their community service and for their success at facing “economic vagaries and racial strictures” in business.
