Thumbs Up to voters in Farmers Branch and Carroll ton, who overwhelmingly proved for a second time that they want their cities to be a part of the Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART) system. Voters in those cities first approved DART in August 1983 and again in January in a special election. That election was called primarily because of opponents who contended that voters were being deceived by the DART plan and were unnecessarily paying a 1 percent sales tax for a transit system that might never be accessible to residents in the area. Apparently, the voters didn’t agree. Nearly 1,000 residents are already using a stepped-up bus service that DART began late last year in those towns.
