LONG SHOTS LEAD NOWHERE

|

FORT WORTH- They’ve sifted through hundreds of leads, called in the FBI and used psychics, but the Fort Worth Po-lice seem no closer to solving the most perplexing murders ever to haunt the community. The investigators assigned to the case have made every possible effort to solve the murders of the 10 young women who have disappeared or been murdered in Southwest Fort Worth, says public information officer Doug Clarke. But every lead has gone nowhere. Even large sums of money haven’t lured any witnesses who could offer so much as a hint. The Chamber of Commerce, several public service organizations and a radio station have offered more than $200,000 for information leading to an arrest, Clarke says, and the parents of Cindy Heller have offered a $150,000 reward, which has produced no leads.

All the information on the women has been computerized, and the FBI has developed a psychological profile of the suspects. There’s speculation the murders were not committed by one individual, but by several persons.

Despite hundreds of manpower hours without results, the police haven’t let up on the search. A team of seven investigators is still studying the case and following up on even “double, double long shots.”
