THUMB AWARD HATS OFF TO RENOVATORS

|

Thumbs Up to businessman Louis Reese and Delahunty Gallery owner Laura Carpenter for proposing an $18.8 million plan that includes the renovation of the Adam Hat building on the city’s east side for apartments and retail space. Carpenter says the deal depends on whether or not she and Reese are awarded a $6.46 million Housing and Urban Development grant. The money will make it feasible for the two to provide up to 25 percent of the apartments in the renovated building for low-and moderate-income tenants. The grant could be awarded in October.
