THUMB AWARD FOOT-IN-MOUTH DISEASE

Thumbs Down to Dallas City Councilman Jerry Rucker for comparing fellow Councilman Al Lipscomb to “an autistic child who hasn’t hit a lick in years and suddenly stands up and does a moon for everybody as soon as the camera comes on.” Rucker’s comment came after Lipscomb, in front of local television news cameras, confronted Ernest Angelo, state Republican Arrangements Committee Chairman, with the fact that no significant contracts had been granted to minorities for construction work at the Dallas Convention Center for the GOP Convention. Rucker later apologized to Lipscomb.
