THUMB AWARD CITY CLUB GOES COED

|

Thumbs Up to The City Club, one of Dallas’ most elite executive clubs, for deciding after 43 years to admit women into its main dining room atop One Main Place. Bowing to pressure from male attorneys and bankers who wanted to take female colleagues into the main dining room, the club’s board of directors voted in April to rescind the rule that restricted female members and visitors to a small private dining area. Sam Beard, resident manager and vice president of Goldman Sachs & Co., says the decision was just a matter of “keeping up with the times.” Despite the advancement, the club’s bar and grill is still off-limits to women.
