THUMB AWARD THE KEY PROBLEM

|

Thumbs Up to the Fort Worth Police Department for issuing a $25 ticket to any motorist who leaves the keys in the ignition of his car while it is unattended. The police department began issuing the tickets in June after auto theft statistics for the period from January through May of this year revealed 1,545 thefts. That’s 250 more stolen cars than for the same time last year. Deputy Chief H.L. Clark estimates that more than 50 percent of the thefts occur because the keys are left in the car. Dallas currently has no similar ordinance.
