We have good news to report at D: Associate editor Ruth Miller Fitzgibbons has won a Benjamin Fine Award for outstanding education reporting. The award is presented by the National Association of Secondary-School Principals. Fitzgibbons was chosen for her story on the trials of teaching, which appeared in our August 1983 issue. She plans to revisit the DISD later this year.
Other news: Angela En-right has joined D as our “Inside Dallas” reporter. She comes to us from the Dallas Downtown News and North City News. Another newcomer is Mark Leach, who’ll be working as copy editor. He has written for the Dallas Observer. Also, Teena Gritch has been promoted to managing editor of D, Maggie Oman has moved up to become sections editor and Clarissa Tartar has been named fashion writer.
