Thumbs Up to Dallas business executive Harold Simmons for his $7.5 million donation to the University of Texas Health Science Center at Dallas for establishing what will probably be one of the world’s top arthritis and research training centers. The endowment, established under The Simmons’ Family Foundation, will be transferred to the center over a 10-year period in monthly checks of $62,500. Simmons himself suffers from arthritis of the back and spine. In this “deal,” he shows that he is not only a shrewd businessman, but a humanitarian as well.
