THUMB AWARD PEOPLE’S SCULPTURE

|

Thumbs Up to Ray Nasher for his plan to assemble the country’s first international sculpture exhibit in Dallas. Nasher has worked out a public/private venture in which approximately 50 works of art by important masters, from Auguste Rodin to Henry Moore will be displayed in public places around the city, including City Hall Plaza, the Central Public Library, the Dallas Museum of Fine Art and the Convention Center. Nasher has offered to raise $500, 000 for the show and is loaning several pieces that he and his wife, Patsy, have collected. The show will run from April to October 1984 – just in time to catch the eyes and the cameras of those attending the Republican National Convention.
