FOR MEN ONLY

Some jolly good thoughts on gifts for him
|

why should it be so hard to buy for men, Christmas in and Christmas out? Men are ready, willing and able to be spoiled, to be taken beyond the limits of the classic he-man luxuries of, say, Old Spice, pipe racks, knitted and tasseled golf club mittens…

And the typically more feminine luxuries like fur and cashmere and evening clothes… why, men like that stuff, too. Men’s clothing departments all over town are stacked to the rafters with luxuries-rugged fur jackets by top designers, cashmere cardigans from Scotland, midnight-blue tuxedos. Luxuries are in. Christmas is here. Indulge him a little.

Give him a vacation. Give him a yacht. Short of that, why not settle for the perfect navy blazer, with or without an insignia, or a handsome piece of canvas luggage, perfect for a weekend or for carrying on a business trip? If he needs the basics, go for the best. Everyone knows that the best PJs are at Brooks Brothers, the best ties this season are Perry Ellis’. You say your man has plenty of cashmere sweaters? Get him a stack of cotton ones (Polos are great) instead. Herewith, D’s dozen or so sure-fire spoilers, for the man who won’t have everything… until Christmas Day.
