Thumbs Down to Dallas County Democratic Chairman Bob Greenberg for protesting the city’s proposed involvement in memorial ceremonies marking the 20th anniversary of the death of John F. Kennedy. It is absurd that the city has not participated in Kennedy memorial ceremonies for the past several years, but it is wrong for Greenberg to “uninvite” city officials to partake this year, when Mayor Starke Taylor has shown interest in participating. Anyone should be able to join in the ceremony. To engage in a petty protest such as this diminishes the dignity the event deserves. After all, Kennedy wasn’t just a Democratic politician; he was a president of the United States. In respect to his memory, it’s time to make amends for the city’s past negligence.
