THUMB AWARD RAH, RAH, RANGERS!

|

Thumbs Up to the Texas Rangers for the heads-up, aggressive play that has landed them in first place by the All-Star break in July – the first time a Ranger team has ever led the league at the halfway mark. It’s hard to believe, but this is the same always-say-die team that lost 98 games last season. It remains to be seen whether the Rangers can survive the withering August heat and the recuperating California Angels. But regardless of the final standings, new Ranger manager Doug Rader has built the team into a solid contender. In offices and elevators, people are talking baseball. Move over, Cowboys; the Metroplex has a summer game at last.
